5 Easy Tips for Sharing the Gospel With Coworkers

AN OVERTIME MINISTRIES GUIDE

You don't have to be a pastor to share Jesus. Sometimes the most powerful ministry happens during a lunch break, in the break room, or in an ordinary conversation at work.

Sharing the Gospel doesn't have to feel awkward or forced. Here are five simple ways to share your faith naturally while building genuine relationships with the people you work alongside.

1. Let Your Actions Speak First

Your coworkers notice how you handle stress, treat others, and respond when things go wrong. Show Christ's love through kindness, honesty, patience, and a willingness to help.

Try this: Offer to help a struggling coworker without expecting anything in return.

📖 Matthew 5:16 — Let your light shine before others so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

2. Build Relationships, Not Arguments

People are more receptive when they know you genuinely care about them. Ask questions, listen to their experiences, and get to know them beyond their job titles.

Try this: Ask how someone's weekend went. If they ask about yours, naturally mention something you enjoyed at church.

📖 James 1:19 — Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

3. Offer Prayer When Someone Is Struggling

When a coworker shares a difficult situation, offer compassion before advice. If it feels appropriate, ask whether you can pray for them. Respect their answer, even if they decline.

Try this: Say, "I'm sorry you're going through that. Would it be okay if I prayed for you?"

📖 Galatians 6:2 — Bear one another's burden

4. Share Your Story, Not Just Scripture

You don't need to memorize an entire sermon. Your personal testimony is an opportunity to explain how Jesus has changed your life.

Try this: Share a specific example of how your faith helped you through a difficult season, strengthened your marriage, or changed your perspective.

If someone wants to know more, explain the heart of the Gospel: Jesus died for our sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness and new life to those who place their faith in Him.

📖 1 Peter 3:15 — Be prepared to explain your hope with gentleness and respect.

5. Extend an Invitation Without Pressure

Sometimes sharing the Gospel begins with a simple invitation. Invite an interested coworker to church, a small group, or a community event.

Try this: Say, "Our church is having an event this weekend. You're welcome to come with us if you're interested."

If they aren't interested, continue treating them with the same kindness and friendship.

📖 Colossians 4:5–6 — Walk in wisdom toward others and let your conversation be gracious.

Remember: Your Workplace Is a Mission Field

You don't have to turn every conversation into a sermon. Be genuine, respect workplace rules and other people's boundaries, and look for opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ.

Your responsibility is to share the Gospel faithfully and lovingly. You don't have to force an outcome.

Start with one person, one conversation, and one act of kindness.
